Casa Caracol is inspired by patterns we find in nature and which are integrated into the architectural design.
The whole universe revolves constantly in a spiral towards infinity. The spiral is the geometric trace governing shells. Due to its structural lines, rhythm, direction and continuity, we find inspiration to imitate them in our architecture. Thus, the inner shell is a sphere, which roundness gives tranquility to man. Hollow cavities have long been sought out as shelter for man's living habitats and homes.
Taking shells as a model, we can design and build basic concepts of function, space, structure and form thus creating a feeling of well being, comfort, harmony, peace, joy and coziness.
Designed under the philosophy of permaculture and bio-climatics, Casa Caracol is a gem of sustainable design in the Mayan Riviera.
