TULUM

TULUM has an incredibly privileged location, due to its position in the center of the Riviera Maya in the state of Quintana Roo.

Its boundaries within the state connect with major cities such as Playa del Carmen, Puerto Aventuras, Akumal and Cancun. Its boundary to the east is the state of Yucatan, which represents the gateway to important colonial cities like Merida and Valladolid. To the south lies the continuation of Riviera Maya and the entrance to Central America Belize.

Its territory is composed of 2.095 km2 of great plains of permeable rock and jungle, which has originated the largest underground freshwater system in the world and the existence of Cenotes (sinkholes) that are formed by the surface of the underground rivers collapsing.

Its natural resources and beauty of the area is unparalleled, in its surroundings you can find beautiful beaches, coastal lagoons, cenotes and the biosphere reserve of Sian Ka'an. This allows numerous natural aquatic activities water sports such as diving and sea caves, sailing, canoeing, snorkeling, windsurfing, kite surfing, fishing, among others. But unlike other tourist sites, here prevails peace and harmony with the environment.

Tulum is the second most visited archaeological site in the country and major international tourist destination. As of today, there are 3,500 hotel rooms, and it is estimated that by 2025 will be 70,000. Tourism in the area is eco-tourism and very good economical level.

In recent years the growth of the area is one of the most important nationally, and the municipality has a "Plan for Sustainable Development." This has transformed Tulum into a cosmopolitan city, inhabited and developed by people all over the world. Its population has grown substantially in recent years and is approximately 32,000 inhabitants.

The development and immigration in recent years have generated that the state and federal government, as well as the private enterprises demand a lot of services. Now there is a significant trade flow in the area and is becoming more attractive to domestic and foreign investment.
